Bauhaus (literally meaning ‘building house’ in German) was an architecture and art concept introduced in 1919 by Walter Groupius in Weimar, then the capital of post WWI Germany. The most basic tenet of the Bauhaus which is also the centrepiece of our building is form follows function.
We chose the name BauHaus Properties because the legacy of the Bauhaus endures and its principles can be seen in much of what we think of today as contemporary or modern design, whether it’s in the homes we live in or the typography we use. Our streamlined kitchen products, cantilevered chairs, stacking tables, ‘modern’ lamps, white walls and open plan living spaces can all trace their origins back to the Bauhaus.

Bauhaus is a German expression meaning house for building. In 1919, the economy in Germany was collapsing after a crushing war. Architect Walter Gropius was appointed to head a new institution that would help rebuild the country and form a new social order. Called the Bauhaus, the Institution called for a new "rational" social housing for the workers. Bauhaus architects rejected "bourgeois" details such as cornices, eaves, and decorative details. They wanted to use principles of Classical architecture in their most pure form: without ornamentation of any kind.
Generally, Bauhaus buildings have flat roofs, smooth façades, and cubic shapes. Colors are white, gray, beige, or black. Floor plans are open and furniture is functional. Popular construction methods of the time—steel-frame with glass curtain walls—were used for both residential and commercial architecture. More than any architectural style, however, the Bauhaus Manifesto promoted principles of creative collaboration—planning, designing, drafting, and construction are tasks equal within the building collective. Art and craft should have no difference.
We think of white walls, clean lines and the use of glass and concrete as modern and contemporary ideas. And they are, except that those same ideas have been around for nearly a century now thanks to the unique influence of the Bauhaus school of design, art and architecture...
The Bauhaus was founded in Weimar, Germany in 1919 by architect, Walter Gropius with the aim of bridging the gap between art, design and industry and unifying all three. It was a school where students received theoretical and practical training in all of the fine arts -ceramics, murals, stained glass, typography, metalwork, book binding, stone sculpture and furniture-making – and learned to combine these fine art skills with new technologies to design and manufacture products that were both beautiful and practical.
The Bauhaus school originated in Weimar (1919), moved to Dessau (1925), and disbanded when the Nazis rose to power. Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and other Bauhaus leaders migrated to the United States. The term International Style was applied to the American form of Bauhaus architecture.

2013
The expansion continues with several clients referrals to the extent that the team had to be doubled. Several Ghanaians resident in the USA sign up for us to design and build their homes while those investing sign up for our property management services. At the end of the year we had executed 37 housing units including 2 churches and a hostel.
2014
With an insistent demand from clients and landlords alike, we decided to consolidate all our services under one umbrella company. BauHaus Properties became the name synonymous with Property Development, Building Construction, Architectural Services, Property Management and Real Estate Investment Advisory. BauHaus which literally means Building House in German was chosen as a name because it embodies all the services that we provide as well as give thorough meaning to our design concept
